Open Wide!

Rachel had her first dental appointment recently and did great. She watched Mommy have hers first, and when she realized it wouldn't hurt (after confirming this with me about 100 times) she was ready. She was well-rewarded afterwards with two new toothbrushes (one an electric Ariel), toothpaste, dental floss (great fun to pull completely out), sugar free suckers and a pair of sunglasses. She has 16 teeth (no second molars yet) and a pretty big overbite (unlike Daddy's underbite). Since her visit, our toothbrushing wars have been a bit milder. I have no doubt that braces are in her future, as well as glasses or contacts, since good teeth and vision don't run in this family. Besides, shouldn't everyone be stuck with a dorky, four eyes, metal mouth school picture around the Jr. High years?

hehehe. she is so cute. i'm glad she wasn't scared and that your tooth brushing battles have lessened. and yes...everyone should have one of those pictures. oh..except me. i was lucky enough to have braces in High School. that's just wrong.

Did she get a haircut? Her hair looks so cute in those pictures! I'm excited for you that her first dental appointment went well!! No comment from the peanut gallery on the brush wars.

Wow! what a brave little girl. I truly think they might have to sedate Will when we eventually take him in...hense why we haven't yet. But at least our wars are for the most part over. Fun times. And yes, her hair is darling!!!

The only "haircuts" Rachel gets are when Mommy cuts her bangs, but I think I'm actually improving in that department :>) However, a haircut is in the near future--her hair only looks good down (meaning not in pigtails) right after a shower or bath--otherwise it's very flyaway (see "Bedhead" post for confirmation of that!) As always, thanks for the comments--so fun!

It's always nice to hear when kids can sit through dental visits without going balistic. We've heard horrow stories, so there's one more thing to be grateful for.

Those are such cute pics of Rachel. Poor thing- she looks so tiny in that huge chair! I'm glad she was a good sport for you! Poor thing--braces sucked! Oh well- it is a necessary evil and a much needed waste of money so that after braces, your teeth can grow back to the way they used to be! grrr.

Rachel's hair is so cute in that picture... you must have curled it! Look at you, Karen! Turning into a hair curling Mom... who would have thought! As for the braces, I've already started an account for the millions of dollars it'll probalby cost us to fix my children's teeth. I didn't do them any favors with my genes... *sigh*. Oh, and I'm loving the stethoscope (?) around her neck.
